Cleaning and maintaining your product will increase the half masks functionality and allow the mask to be used for a longer span on time.
With half masks growing in popularity year on year due to its clear cost-effective nature, end users are faced with the responsibility to maintain and keep the products clean themselves.
The half mask we are going to based this on is the JSP’s Force 8 Half Mask with Press to Check filters, this is a top selling product of ours which can be found on our online store, here is the link. This product also provides great simplicity in terms of maintenance of the mask, other half masks in the industry have lots of small intricate pieces to their masks which can make cleaning the mask more challenging. This half mask has very few components so you can carry out this task in no time at all.
Here is the step-by-step guide:
Remove the half masks filters, if you have been experiencing breathing resistance while using the filters this would suggest they are getting full and blocked up. This would be a perfect opportunity to replace them.
Next up, remove the exhalation valve cover. For this particular mask that is the clear plastic cover on the front of the mask.
Once removed, you can then proceed to take off the harness of the mask and the masks diaphragm. The diaphragm is the grey rubber piece within the exhalation cover.
You will now be left with the body of the half mask, you can now clean the mask with soapy water. Followed by cleaning the exhalation valve cover and the diaphragm.
Dry all the components with a lint-free cloth.
With all the components cleaned and dried, it is time to re-assemble the components.
Insert the diaphragm, slide this through the front of the mask and pull the diaphragm through on the other side until you can feel it almost pop into place.
Place the harness over the front of the mask, check to make sure the harness is on the right way.
Insert the exhalation valve cover, place this over the cover and twist to lock into place.
Re-fit your new or used Press to Check filters to the mask with a twist action, this can be tricky at first but is easy to lock down.
Now your half mask is cleaned and full re-assembled ready for use, we would recommend cleaning your mask regularly. During this time getting long Gevity out of your half mask is key due because of the short supply of these masks.
