Why is it important to wear hi vis workwear?

Why is it important to wear hi vis workwear | Visibility on a construction site and the importance of being seen

Naturally being on a construction site comes with numerous hazards when working, unlike working in an office where the risk of injury is minimal being on a site you are at risk of injury from head to toe on a daily basis. This is why PPE has been manufactured and improved over the years to ensure the maximum protection from hazards.

Hi vis clothing

With construction sites typically being open from 6am to 5pm there is certainly times throughout the year where the workers will be operating in low light situations and will have continuous hazards that are best avoided with high visibility clothing and other PPE.

Thankfully it is becoming less likely to see construction workers operating without hi vis workwear and is likely one of the first products purchased for workers. The marketplace is saturated with lots of different options in terms of men's hi vis workwear and the design, material, quality and different amounts of high visibility material.

Being visible is required for more than just workers on construction sites, other sectors that use/require this type of clothing are EMTs, traffic operatives, police officers and warehouse operatives to name a few. This clothing is required for any industry where there is a risk of being injured by a motor vehicle.

Hi vis workwear is made of brightly coloured materials and reflective materials to ensure you are being seen in low light situations as well being easily seen in adverse weather conditions.

Having the right hi vis workwear will give you peace of mind that you can be seen much easier and further reducing the risk of serious injury.

Innovative ways to be more visible:

Some manufactures have taken being visible on site to another level and in a more creative way, by offering brightly coloured PPE such as Portwest’s PV64 which is available is colours such as bright yellow, bright pink & orange. This further increases your presents on site, being easier to see above the neck as well as other fantastic features to the product.
